The fresh campaign meant to highlight the importance of actively cleaning and disinfecting your home and workplace to prevent the ever-present threat of illnesses being spread through the air and landing on commonly touched surfaces.

A recent survey conducted by the American Cleaning Institute indicates that Americans determined their primary motivation for cleaning was to disinfect and kill germs.

Yet another study found that a whopping 42% of Americans aren’t disinfecting properly.

Make sure you’re disinfecting properly; don’t waste your time or risk your health.

According to the ACI, this is the appropriate and most effective way to disinfect any high-touch point surfaces:

  1. Pre-clean the surface you are about to disinfect. Remove any excess dirt or grime.
  2. Use your disinfectant spray or wipe as directed on the product label.
  3. After disinfecting, let the surface air dry. The product label should state a desired length of time for the surface to stay wet. This is critical for ensuring the surface is fully disinfected.

The CDC recommends you should clean, sanitize, and disinfect as often as possible.
